Causes of hemorrhoids
The hemorrhoid pathology is multifactorial, which means that many causes may influence the development of hemorrhoids. However, the cause that is most closely related to this condition is the constipation associated to a frequent, constant effort while defecating. Other possible causes of the hemorrhoid pathology are:
- Constipation and bad habits in the bathroom (sitting in the toilet defecating for too long or exerting too much pressure compresses the hemorrhoid veins).
- Bad cases of diarrhea can also cause hemorrhoids because of the irritation.
- Hereditary factors if your parents or grandparents had varicose veins, its very probable that you will have them as well.
- Pregnancy (especially on the last few weeks) is one of the most frequent causes of hemorrhoids in women, since as the baby grows inside, the pressure on the veins increases, making the blood circulation back to the heart more difficult.
- Standing up for a long time or carrying a lot of weight can contribute to the appearance of hemorrhoids.
Most people experience symptoms derived from hemorrhoids at a certain point in their lives.
